I said to myself, "This looks VERY familiar.... I FINALLY FOUND KYLE RIABKO's 'BEFORE I SPEAK' CD!!!!!!!" *whoots*
I first found out about him through AOL music online's article on young artists below 21 to look out for. I saw his video of the acoustic version of "What Did I Get Myself Into" and though, "Hm.. it's worth taking a look at his website." And so I did. I listened to the audio clips. I read the reviews which all seem to rave about his multi-talents. So I tried to search for his CD. Since he's isn't that popular, yet, I couldn't find his CD anywhere in Singapore! Not in HMV, or Sembawang, or Gramophone or Borders. Nowhere! So I asked my dad's friend who was going to US to help me buy KR's CD (and some other DVDs too.. haha). He said he didn't find it in the first few shops he went to, but he found it anyway!
I let some of friends hear his songs. One of my friend wanted his CD too, but as I've mentioned, I couldn't find it in Singapore. I got Jam hooked on him too! wahahah! We tried to 'sing' 'Before I Speak'. *Before I, Before I, Before I Speak* But not easy, cause the verse has quite a lot of words, but nowhere near as many as Jason Mraz's.
I think he recorded the album when he was 17 years old. He is kinda like the male version of Joss Stone.. haha. He plays and sings soulful-bluesy kinda music. He sings, plays the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, organ etc. On some of his songs, he plays everything on the tracks! (like my dad! haha) He started jamming and performing with older musicians when he was at the age of 13! And has since toured with John Mayer, Maroon 5 and Buddy Guy.
So to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find his album in a musicstore within a deparment store in the most isolated capital city in the world -Perth, is a complete understatement!!
PLUS, I found John Mayer's "The Village Sessions" CD. I have never seen it anywhere else except on online stores.
So there you go, my 2 RARE finds!
RARE OCCURANCE:
Today is Easter Sunday (duh!), so I decided to dress a little more 'properly' for church, instead of my usual T-shirt & jeans attire. So I wore a SKIRT! Yes, I did in fact wear a skirt. Before I let your mind wander to imagine Yours Truly actually in a skirt... allow me to alert you that it was a knee-length skirt. No mini-skirts for me, please!
For those who don't know me well enough (though I reckon that if you're reading my blog, you must know me well enough. This was one of the reasons for my long blog name.), I hardly ever wear skirts. Except my MG school uniform. But that doesn't really count, cause as most gals do, I always wore shorts underneath my pinafore.
