Yes, you heard me right.
I was indeed electrocuted in Physics class. I had thousands of Volts going through my body (if that's Physically possible...) Okay... maybe electrocuted's not the right word. I'm still alive and kicking, mind you. A few thousand Volts can't kill. It only tickles. It's the current that electrocutes someone, not the voltage. I probably just experienced a few micro-amperes of current. No biggie
I shall rephrase: I experienced can electric shock today in Physics class. Not the small buzz kind of shock but the BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ kind. I could still feel the tingling sensation in my hand 5 mins after the shock. And my heart was still palpitating after 15 min in a weird wayy.. Hard to explain. It was kinda beating fast... but also in a state of shock! It was as if my heart was stunned into beating hard.
Ooooo but it was FUN. No.. I'm not a masochist.
You see... we were learning about AC (alternating current) generators for Physics today. In the last 15 mins or so, my teacher, Frank, started to show us some demonstrations. One of which was this contraption that you turned manually. This contraption is placed in a magnetic field, and hence due to the cutting of flux lines, there is an induced emf. If this contraption is connected to an external circuit, an induced current will result.... blahblahblah.. yadayadayada...
He then asked Esther if she trusted him. Esther went, "ermm..... yesh? *raises eyebrow* ". Then, she held onto the metal ends of two wires which were connected to the contraption. So basically, she was the "conductor" that connected the whole circuit.
Frank started turning the contraption slowly, until Esther could feel gentle pulses. He then turned it a little faster, until Esther told him to stop. He did. He beamed, "See, I told you that I can be trusted!" Then, he pointed at Zhi Hoe and said, "If it was you, I would have done this!" *turns the contraption vigorously*
I can't remember who suggested this, but my ENTIRE class decided to hold hands, with the people at the ends holding on to 1 of the wires. So it was a HUGE electrical circuit!
Frank turned that thing really fast and I got a SHOCK! oooo... but it was a pretty cool feeling... Having said that, I wouldn't want to be electrocuted! It definitely would not be a cool feeling to have a few milli-amperes of current flowing through my body!
Physics lessons at 3.15pm on Thursdays are always, surprisingly, a good time for us to have fun and get high! It was definitely a FUN Physics lesson today, if not for the fact that Frank announced that he was going to sick leave until who knows when. Aww... we all shall miss him lots! He didn't go into much detail. So we wish that he'll get well soon!
I will blog about his random and hilarious quotes sometime later.
To end, his "last" words to us were: I wish you all the best for your exams. You know the rules, FOLLOW FRANK'S RULES!
P.S.: Frank would like you to know that CURRENT DOESN'T FLOW; no matter how many textbooks and teachers say otherwise.... BUT current doesn't and cannot flow. It is the ELECTRIC CHARGES that flow. Current is merely the rate of flow of electric charges. So technically, saying that current flows = saying that the flow of the rate of flow of electric charges. How does that make any sense?
He told us to spread the word around and change da world! Lolx
