My week of Music, Music and more Music

It was a crazy week! I mean crazy, in the best possible way!

It started of with Aussie Idol on Sun and Mon. ooooo... 4/5 of the people I listed in my past entry got into the top 24! See.. I've got great taste (erm.. in this case.. erm.. hearing?)!

Check these out!

Matt Corby singing Lior's "Bedouin Song"

The Group of 4 (Matt Corby, Rosie Ribbons, Daniel Mifsud & Natalie Gauci) singing Boyz II Men's "End of the Road".

Lyall Adonis singing The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work"

You can be sure to hear and read more about them soon!

Can't wait for 2moro's semi finals!! _________________________________________________________

Esther and I have been singing Lyall Adonis' original song, "Blind" everyday at school for the past week! He sang this song for his audition.

Whoohooo! We have both gotten a job! We're Lyall Adonis' back-up singers! He has promised to give us a ring when he goes into the studio to record it! Don't believe us? Well, we've got the proof! Ask me, and I might just show it to ya!

Hey, when there was wrong
You came and made it all feel right
But I could never see
I was blind

Yesterday was a great day!

It started off with a mini photo-taking session outside one of the Chemistry labs. As I've mentioned in my previous post, Frank's going on sick leave. So THE Bench Union decided to take a picture with him, lest we don't get a chance to, if he doesn't return before the exams.

Frank is 2nd from the left (duh!)

THE Bench Union

Thereafter, we got random....
From left: The PRETTIEST bunny, Her HOTTEST highness & The CUTTEST Easter Egg
Khang Wee (Mr. Prettiest himself): Why does the one on the left look so gay??!?

Don't ask me why THE Bench Union members have got such weird names. It's a loooong story... lol

Since I'm in a uploading-photo-happy-mood, here's another pic that I should have put up a long time ago. It was taken during Aileen's b'dae party at school, months ago.

Rawr! Do I seem scary enough? Hm... this is probably why I scared the HC boys! Hehe. Nah, they can't handle real women! Hehe.
But I think my Calculus book and the un-glam orange plastic bag kinda killed the effect, no?

The Howlin' Novocaines performed at my college at lunchtime!

A Short Intro, courtesy of myspace.com/novocaines & triple J unearthed:

Members:
Corey Marriott - Pipes, Jangles, Harmonica
Jay Marriott - Licks
Steven Turnock - Slaps
Jay "Gumby" Watson - Skins
Influences: Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, The Sonics, The Rolling Stones, Hendrix

Sounds Like: "Lou Reed joining the Yardbirds and then moving them all down to Tennessee"; : Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Iggy and the Stooges

Jay, the guitarist, is in Esther and Boo's Applicable Math class and in Leon and Leo's Chemistry class! I see him around sometimes. It's so cool to have a college mate that is in a band which plays in and around Perth every week!

I had a free period before lunch. So being mildly kiasu, I went to the canteen instead of the ISO (as I usually do) to spend my free period. I wanted to "chope" the best seats possible as I thought they were going to play in the alfresco area of the canteen. At least, that was what the poster said. As it turned out they played in the car park area outside the canteen instead. No matter, Esther and I and others stood outside to hear them play.

Their music is not my usual kind of music, but they were AWESOME! I didn't realize that Jay could play such a mean guitar!!

It was evident that they band has been playing regularly for quite a while coz they're so relaxed. They're quite tight. They've done this enough times to know what happens in each song and at what time, so everything falls into place together.

After the gig, I went to buy their EP, Money City Blues. It was then that my skin grew thicker! HAHA! I felt so "pai sei". But hey! these things don't come often! So I went to get their autographs! The brothers, Jay and Corey were so nice! They thanked us and all.

Wilson promised to send me the rest of the photos on Monday. Here is one of the 2 he has already sent me:

Foreground, Corey. Backgroud: Steve

I stood there a long time, trying to decide if I should go ask for a picture and an autograph. They boys (Wilson, Leo and Leon) laughed at me coz I was rather HIGH and "pai sei-ed" (embarrassed). BUT then they also went to buy the EP and asked for their autographs!

FYI, it says "Thank you for the photo" on the disc.

Esther and I wanted to take a photo with them. As I said, these things don't come often! So we had to be a little thick-skinned. There I was, debating (with myself) if I should do it. Then the brave soul, Darren, said he'll ask for us! So in the end, Esther and him went to ask... and I just tagged along, behind them... hahah

You must be thinking, oh my! She's a coward! Haha... not exactly... coz I plucked up courage to help Esther ask for a Howling' Novocaines sticker. I already got one when I bought the EP. But she wanted one too. Since she asked for pictures, I decided to reciprocrate by asking for a sticker. And so I did. I went up to Corey with a sheepish look and rattled on, "CanIpleasehaveanotherstickerformyfriend?" He gave me like 6 or something!

Thanks again to Esther and Darren for the following picture! And thanks to the photographer, Wilson (who takes pride that this is a high quality photograph! To quote him, "It's HIGH QUALITY you know - 1.5 mb" But as we all know, it's the combination of 1st, yes, the photographer; 2nd, the camera and 3rd, the beautiful/handsome subjects in a photograph that makes a pic good! LOLX)

From left: "Gumby", Jay, Darren, Steve, Corey, Yours Truly & Esther

One thing I realised... as if it's not telling enough.... I'm really short... wait, correction... I'm really petite! I appear taller than Esther in this pic coz she's leaning against me. In reality, this is not the case... Oh well, but since Esther and Boo would rather be shorter... So I guess short is good? Well.. since God gave me my height, well, I'll just have to accept it I guess.... but that isn't to say that I'm not (still) waiting for my growth spurt!
