I'm an Accounting Noob

I've got so many things that I wanna say... but neither you nor I have got the time for me to say all of it.

So for now, I'll talk about the unit I like least (note: it doesn't mean I hate it. I just like my other units more than this one) - ACCOUNTING.

The first 3 lectures was a BLUR. Prior to this, I've never done anything even close to Accounting, EVER. As a matter of fact, everything I'm learning at Uni so far, has been (almost) completely new! [My beloved Music unit: Contemporary Music in Society seems to be the only course that I've a substantial amount of knowledge in!] I guess it's good that I've got so many new things to learn, but it's really quite a lot of new info to absorb!

Anyway, back to Accounting. Today's Practical Lecture (a lecture that's practical? err...) actually did help me to understand the basic stuff. At least the picture's clearer to me now.

I've got Tutorial (Tute) work to complete before Friday. So I decided to get it over and done with by today. I felt so dumb, when I couldn't even answer the 1st Tute question - I didn't know what format to use to answer the question. But I eventually managed to answer that question, I think.

So now that I've just completed my FIRST EVER Balance Sheet (which actually balances!), Income Statement & Statement of Changes in Equity, I feel slightly less dumb...

I guess this Accounting Noob has progressed to an Accounting Newb!


Though I must add that, after being an Accounting student for the whole of 1 week, Accounting doesn't seem to fit Science/Maths-Students. It seems to be so repetitive & long-winded. Why can't I shorten everything by compressing the whole thing into one equation? (This is something that I've always been fond of doing since Primary School. ) Oh wells.. if I did, it'll probably defeat the whole purpose of Accounting.
